The Best First Pitch Baseline Pitching Machine 2017 (Product Review)

We were looking for a reasonably priced machine that could throw a ball at least 60 mph. It was remarkably difficult to find a machine that was both reasonably priced and fast. Then, we found the Baseline Pitching Machine by Fast Pitch. This machine is just what we were looking for. It throws balls up to 70 mph. The First Pitch Baseline Pitching Machine had so many positive reviews we had to try it.

We’ll tell you everything you need to know about this machine including specs, pros and cons, our review, and a discussion of common issues brought up in reviews of this product.

This pitching machine is the easiest one to set up that we have tried. It requires no special tools. Though it’s a little heavy, one person can do the job. It just requires that you’re able to lift 50lbs. If you aren’t sure you can do that, get a little help from a friend.

After we had it set up and adjusted to our field, it was time to plug it in and give it a try. We tried baseballs and softballs and measured the speed. We found that baseballs got to 70mph while softballs were predictably slower.

Then, we tried to see how consistent the machine was. We found that if it was adjusted correctly and on a level surface, it was consistent for about 25 throws before needing to be adjusted slightly.

We tried a few different adjustments to simulate different throws like pop flies and ground balls. It was great with both and easy to adjust. We thoroughly enjoyed using the First Pitch Baseline Pitching Machine. It’s easy and fun to use.

One thing that has to be considered is the open wheel design. While it makes the machine easier to use, it can be a danger. Small children should not be allowed to put their hands near the wheel. It moves very quickly to throw balls at 70mph. Adults should make sure they’re not wearing clothing that could be caught in the pitching machine. That’s a frequent issue with pitching machines with open wheels. As long as you’re careful, you should be fine.

Our Take On Other Reviews

In general people are very happy with this machine. Some people had some issues with setup. If you don’t tighten screw tight enough there will be too much vibration and the machine will move. That’s to be expected. Whenever you’re setting up a device that creates vibration, make sure to tighten all of the screws well.

Another issue is the weight. While 50lbs seems heavy and we expected to see some complaints, there were none. Even though it is 50lbs, it’s small enough to be portable. Most adults can carry 50lbs fairly easily, it’s the weight of a small child so moms are well equipped to carry this machine.

One reviewer noted that this model is available at some commercial batting cages. That reviewer determined that it was cheaper and more convenient to just by the machine for their kids rather than keep hauling the kids to the batting cage. Anything that makes a parent’s life easier has our support.

Final Verdict

First Pitch Baseline Pitching Machine - GO FOR IT!!!

The First Pitch Baseline Pitching Machine is a superior-quality machine at a reasonable price for its speed and capability. We enjoyed using it and were pleased with the consistency. The price is well worth it when you consider the speed. We just urge you to watch children around tha machine because of the fast moving spinning wheel. It was a joy to use. We gave it a 9.6 out of a possible 10.
